The uridine phosphorylase Y12 is a mesophilic enzyme originating from Escherichia coli. Uridine phosphorylases catalyze the reversible phosphorolytic breakdown of the N-glycosidic bond of uridine with the formation of uracil and ribose-1-phosphate.
