Ribonucleoside hydrolase H02

The ribonucleoside hydrolase H02 corresponds to the Escherichia coli rihB gene. Ribonucleoside hydrolases catalyze the irreversible hydrolysis of nucleosides to ribose and nucleobase. H02 is stricktly specific for ribonucleosides and accepts the pyrimidine nucleosides cytidine and uridine with clear preference for cytidine over uridine. Purine ribonucleosides are also accepted, but conversion is much slower.
