The ribonucleoside hydrolase H01 corresponds to the Escherichia coli rihA gene. Ribonucleoside hydrolases catalyze the irreversible hydrolysis of nucleosides to ribose and nucleobase. H01 is stricktly specific for ribonucleosides and accepts the pyrimidine nucleosides cytidine and uridine with equal efficiency.
