Ribonucleoside hydrolase H03

The ribonucleoside hydrolase H03 corresponds to the Escherichia coli rihC gene. Ribonucleoside hydrolases catalyze the hydrolysis of nucleosides to ribose and nucleobase. H03 hydrolyzes both purine and pyrimidine ribonucleosides with a broad substrate specificity. Activity decreases in the order uridine > xanthosine > inosine > adenosine > cytidine > guanosine. The enzyme is strictly specific for ribonucleosides.
