The deoxycytidine kinase NK13 originates from the human DCK gene. It predominantly converts deoxycytidine to dCMP, but also accepts deoxyguanosine and deoxyadenosine as substrates. The enzyme has broad substrate specificity and does not display selectivity based on the chirality of the substrate.
