UMP/CMP kinase NMPK22

The UMP/CMP kinase NMPK22 corresponds to the human gene CMPK1. This eukaryotic enzyme is a bifunctional enzyme that catalyzes the phosphorylation of both CMP and UMP with similar efficiency. dCMP can also act as acceptor. The enzyme plays an important role in de novo pyrimidine nucleotide biosynthesis.
