Glucose/glucosamine kinase (ADP-specific) GK01

The ADP-specific glucose/glucosamine kinase GK01 is of archaeal origin and thermostable up to (at least) 80°C. This enzyme catalyzes the phosphorylation of glucose or glucosamine to glucose 6-phosphate and glucosamine 6-phosphate, respectively. It is highly specific for ADP as phosphate donor. No activity can be detected when ADP is replaced by ATP, GDP, phosphoenolpyruvate, diphosphate or polyphosphate.
